The stuff you need to know.
📢 FPL Towers has announced a new way to score points: defensive contributions.
👀 Players will be awarded a maximum of two points per game for accruing defensive contributions: defenders need 10 in a game, midfielders/forwards need 12.
🛡 Defensive contributions include clearances, blocks, tackles and interceptions. For forwards and midfielders, recoveries are also included.
📈 This is possibly the most significant rule change in recent memory, rewarding players who contribute meaningfully to a match regardless of whether they happen to score, assist or keep a clean sheet.

Alright?
Just a quick one. This morning (Friday), OfficialFPL dropped a rule change, and we thought, “shit, we happen to know a few people who might be interested in this.”
You can watch the explainer video here.
And there’s a video of James Tarkowski accruing defensive contributions here.

Defensive contribution points that would’ve been scored last season.
Everything else you need to know is in the section above this one.
All eyes are on whether other meaningful actions, like chances created, shots on target and key passes, will also be rewarded.

Bring on the pain.

Seriously, join. It’s worth it.
On the surface, this rule change has the potential to breathe fresh life into what were once considered dead picks.
We have all been there, looking at which £4.5m midfielder to pick, who will live in a bin at the bottom of our bench under strict orders to never peer out unless three of our players somehow pick up injuries.
But this rule shift will change things.
For example, Elliot Anderson.
Out of the bin you come, my friend.

@AllAboutFPL
Elliot Anderson put up 107 points last season.
However, under the rule change, Elliot Anderson would have scored a tempting 143 points from the £5.0m midfield price range, completely changing how we view that player price point.
And this is how the dominoes will fall.
Players who were never even in consideration will now become options for managers to select.
As for who those players are, we shall see.

Right, we’ll be back on Monday, assuming we don’t get any more bombshells between now and then.
Stay lazy,
The LazyFPL Team.
