Wildcards. Wildcards everywhere.
Ahead of Gameweek 6, FPL managers are hitting that button in droves.
Twitter is overflowing with drafts. Reddit can barely keep up.
So, we turned to our good friend @FPL_Brandon to show us his first draft. He’s no ordinary manager. Brandon finished 499th overall in the 2023/24 season.
Over to you, Brandon…
FPL Brandon’s First Draft

Goalkeepers
With no Wildcard bailout until the second half of the season, I need a set-and-forget. Raya looks the standout with the league’s best defence and a great fixture run.
I’m eyeing a Bench Boost in GW7 and don’t mind spending the extra 0.5m on Petrovic for the double up as they rotate nicely.
Defenders
I’m going all in on DEFCON merchants.
Tarkowski and Senesi are monsters here, while Porro can also reach the threshold and has good short-term fixtures (though I may switch him to Andersen in GW10).
Gvardiol is the best route into City’s defence, while Gabriel pairs with Raya for Arsenal’s defensive double.
Midfielders
Bruno feels essential with penalties, DEFCONs, set pieces, and reliable minutes.
Semenyo offers strong open play threat and, with Kluivert struggling to get minutes, should also be on pens short term.
Reijnders has the best GW6 fixture and is my pick from City’s midfield minefield. Ndiaye brings Bruno-like appeal with pens, DEFCONs, and solid fixtures.
Stach is my budget enabler with Leeds looking like the promoted side worth investing in, given fixtures and team strength.
Forwards
Haaland, no explanation needed. I prefer him over Salah long term.
Gyokeres is my third Arsenal pick over Saka: cheaper, more secure for minutes, likely pens, and lower injury risk.
Foster is my budget enabler and feels overlooked at £5.0m with strong minutes and potential pens while Bruun Larsen is out. He’s bench boostable, though he will miss time for AFCON.
Chip Strategy
WC in GW6, BB in GW7. Not locking in FH or TC yet, and no rush back to Palmer until he proves his fitness.
